Earlier this month, Governor Gary Herbert issued a stay-at-home initiative for Utahans to “stay home, stay safe” as the world fights the COVID-19 outbreak. As more Utah residents follow the directive, many homeowners are experiencing plumbing problems.
Spending extra time at home means using plumbing more often. Whether it’s flushing toilets, washing dishes, taking afternoon baths, or anything in-between, plumbing is getting a lot of extra time, and attention as residents follow Governor Herbert’s initiative.
Recently All Hours Plumbing, Drain Cleaning, Heating & Cooling spoke with reporters at Fox 13 News discussing the influx of plumbing issues. Dan Likens, one of our field supervisors, explained, “We are getting a lot more calls for main sewers that are backing up.”
However, backups aren’t the only problems our team is handling right now. Some of our emergency teams worked on a Millcreek sewer line last week.
Dan told Fox 13 that the project involved digging a trench and using a camera to inspect the entire sewer line. After viewing the line, All Hours had to re-route the whole system due to broken systems.
The toilet paper shortage is also lending a hand in the plumbing problem increase around the state. Some homeowners are flushing other paper products down the toilet, like flushing wipes and paper products, rin an effort to stock up on toilet paper.
Our plumbing experts recommend only flushing toilet paper down the toilet. You can also preserve your plumbing by running cold water down the garbage disposal while it’s in use, as well as after everything passes through the disposal.
While some of the calls are teams are answering emergency plumbing problems, others involve regular services that homeowners want fixing as they spend more time at home. Some of these services include drippy faucets, running toilets, etc.
If you need any plumbing services, contact All Hours Plumbing, Drain Cleaning, Heating & Cooling. Our teams are taking every precaution to keep your home safe and healthy, including wearing masks, gloves, shoe booties, and sanitizing our trucks and tools every night.
